Nick came to rehearsal last night to check out Dru. He looked good. We've been trying to get together to write songs, but mild medical complications keep interfering.
First, he had low blood pressure. I guess the medications were out of whack. I suggested immediate exposure to Kenton. A good band fight will should cause an immediate spike. I wonder what Kenton charges as a co-pay? Would Blue Shield cover this "treatment?"
Then he had an infection. "An infection around my heart area," is how he put it. Nick told me that it only sounds like a death sentence. It's a pretty typical complication. His temperature hit 101 and he felt a distinct lack of pep.
Nick started cardiac therapy. I asked him if how long it would be before he'd receive medical clearance for me to send him two hookers and a trampoline. He said he'd let me know.
But last night, Nick came to rehearsal for 30 minutes. He didnt' play or sing. He just sat on the couch while we did "Red House," and "Come Together." He seemed to like what he heard.
I know I loved seeing him back at the Mojo Dojo.
Dru sounded great, as usual. He picks up new tunes quickly. He can sing harmony too. One of the most enjoyable part of the evening was working out the new arrangement of "Brown Eyed Zombie," a combination of "Browned Eyed Girl" and "I Walked with a Zombie." Dru and I sang a little harmony on Brown-Eyed Girl." I picked up the melody and he sang a high part.
We must have 60 songs to work on. I don't know how we can do this with only 2 1/2 hours a week. Well, we can. But it's going to take a lot of weeks. And what's going to happen if Dru's other band comes back on-line?
